My Command priorities -

Mission Excellence - Personal Growth - Positive community image

My rules for success -

Rule 1 - Communication is the most important thing. No one is more important the the person you are talking to.

Rule 2 - If you want something , think for your boss. You are more likely to receive approval if you have done the research and made sure that all the "i"s are dotted and the "t"s are crossed. Take all the guess work out of the request.

Rule 3 - Go, until someone tells you to stop. Be proactive and don't wait to be told to do productive work, find it yourself. Keep working on that until someone superior to you tasks you with another job.

Rule 4 - Prepare yourself for success. Before you start something make sure that you are totally ready for a positive approach to the project.

Rule 5 - Always maintain a sense of humor.

Additions to standing orders -
  1. BMRs and waivers. In addition to making an entry into the unit's radio log, BMRs will be made to have a PPE waive with signature block and any engineering request for a waiver. The block for the engineering waive will have attached any written correspondence. Both area for the waiver will be signed by the OPS Petty Officer, XPO, and OINC
  2. Advancement Board - Prior to giving a final recommendation of whether a candidate is ready for the next highest paygrade, convene a board of senior petty officers to gauge their knowledge, maturity, decision making abilities, technical knowledge, Coast Guard policies, and leadership. This is merely a tool to allow the command to advance the most qualified personnel to the next highest paygrade.
